• An easy to clean floor (for example a drain in the middle, pebbles, bark)
• Perches for the birds
• Food and water receptacles
• Bird breeding space (ensure that you have nesting boxes)
• A safety "foyer" so that birds cannot escape past you when you enter the aviary
• A solid roof to protect the birds from rain and also droppings from wild birds
• One or two solid walls to help protect the birds from draughts
